This study is an opportunity to think about the society that we live in today from the point of view of young black girls. This study “shows how even with obstacles, stigmas, stereotypes and despair, black girls still find ways to breathe remarkable dignity into their lives in classrooms, juvenile facilities and beyond, and challenges the rest of us to do the same.”* The past study on the book of Exodus opened our eyes to the many obstacles that people of color faced as being part of the church that we all love. This study is in that bold tradition of studies that challenge us to not be afraid of our differences but to find the intersection of truth and justice as people who believe in the power God and the Holy Spirit to heal a broken world. *Quotes from the National UMW/Mission u web site
